What Agreement Did God Make With The Israelites

“Because if this first covenant had been perfect, there would have been no room for a second. For he reproaches them: “Behold, the days come, said the Lord, if I will enter into a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah” (Hebrews 8:7-8 Hebrews 8:7-8[7] For if this first covenant had been flawless, no place would have been sought for the second. [8] Having found their fault, he said: Behold, the days have come, said the LORD, when I will conclude a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: the American King James×. It is significant that each of these two aspects is later ratified by the covenant: (1) the national dimension of God`s promise is at the center of Gen 15, where God establishes an “alliance with Abram” (Gen 15, 18) (1) (gen 15, 18) (gen 15, 18). (2) The international dimension of the promise is apparently ignored in the G15, but it is interpreted in Gen 17 (cf. 4-6, 16), where God announces an “eternal covenant” (Gen 17,7), known as the “covenant of circumcision” (C 7:8). The Lord of armies will save the people of Israel, wherever they may be, and gather them together to live in Jerusalem, where he will give them prosperity. The crops they have planted will prosper, and the vines will be filled with fruit. The plants will be watered with dew from the sky, a constant reminder of the Lord`s supply and loving goodness.

“It is this image of the covenant that challenges most of our thoughts on the covenant in the Old Testament, and in the phrase “Law and Gospel,” it represents the old covenant of the law, unlike the new covenant of the Gospel [of Jesus Christ]. But older than the mosaic covenant, the royal alliance [of Abraham, extended by David], promised stability to the royal house. [14] Note that Paul calls them “the covenants of promise.” Through them, God offered the Israelis great promises and blessings. If they obeyed, God promised to make them a great people, and to protect them, to prosper and take care of them (Leviticus 26:3-13 Leviticus 26:3-13[3] If you walk in my statutes, if you keep my commandments and you do them, then I will give you rain, and the country will grow their growth, and the trees of the fields will bear fruit. [5] And your beat will extend to the old, and the generation will extend to the day of the seeds. You`ll eat your bread, and you`ll live safely in your country. I will give peace in the country, and you will lie down, and no one will fear you. And I will let go of the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not pass through your country. 7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.

[8] Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will flee ten thousand. And your enemies will fall before you by the sword. [9] For I will respect you, I will make you grow, I will make you grow, I will raise you, and I will raise my covenant with you. [10] And you will eat old reserves, and you will bring out the old one because of the new one.
